QUESTIONS / ANSWERS:

Do Papillons shed?  I have 8 of them - 3 shed significantly while the others do not near as much.  In studying the genetic health screens and looking at the traits, it really depends on the genetics of the parents.

Do Papillons bark?  It truly depends on the dog.  In the eight of mine, I have 3 Barkers that get the others going.  They are the initiators.

Are Papillons friendly?   In general Papillons are a very friendly breed.  Having said that, you have to keep up with the socialization when they are puppies.  Bring them everywhere!

Are Papillons hard to groom?  I find them incredibly easy to groom  especially if you start a week after you get them home!   Right in the kitchen sink for a bath!  If you stay on top of it they will love to be groomed!  I even get them used to the blow dryer right away!  All of mine line up to get groomed!  I also trim their nails.   I know you may not be comfortable with that but still play with their feet every day so they get used to have them touched!  If you brush every other day you will have no issues.   I bath in the winter about once a month.  Summer a bit more because of mud, etc etc.

Should I Cut the hair?  No.  Only the feet and sanitary!  NEVER the ears

Are Papillons high maintenance?  I love my Papillons to be cuddly so we are always cuddling them when we get them or they are born in our home!  If you stick with that you will have a magnet for life!   They love to be with you, sit with you, sleep with you if that is who you are!  If you are not that person and need your space, Papillons may not be for you!  They can also be picky eaters.  I constantly have to switch up their food.  I find that the highest maintenance of all.

Are Papillons good with other dogs?   Generally yes but you have to be so very very careful!  I do not suggest letting your Papillon run and jump up on a big dog.  One bite and you'll have big problems on your hands.

Can I get two Papillons at once?  I have let two families get two and it worked out fine but it was special circumstances.  Both families  got males and are retired.   I would never sell two females to a home.  The hormones with females can get tricky.    Then there is what we call the littermate syndrome.   Read below:

Are Dog parks ok?  NO NO NO. Very very dangerous
